The battle of the socks!

The State Street Tavern Neighborhood Kids sponsored it's 14th annual trip to Fenway Park to watch the
Red Sox play the White Sox.  40 kids from Berkshire County were treated to an awesome day of baseball.

The day began in front of The State Street Tavern with the annual shirt ceremony where everyone receives
their customary State Street T Neighborhood  Kids Red Sox Shirts. After boarding the luxury coach the
Kids were treated to movies and all the sandwiches, chips, popcorn & soda they could eat.

Once @ the park, all the kids were brought to Yawkey Way where they  all choose their favorite Red Sox
hat to wear @ the game. Before entering the park each kid was presented with a Red Sox Program. While
in the park the kids were catered to by their sponsors and again were treated to food and souvenirs.

The bus ride home included more food & movies and each kid got a bag full of baseball cards to check out
                   on the ride home.

Game Highlights
Same old Nomar
Garciaparra's HR, 3 RBI win it for Sox

Nomar Garciaparra made a triumphant return for Boston, blasting a homer and hitting the game-winning, two-run single in the seventh, as the Red Sox rallied for a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox in the finale of a three-game series at Fenway Park.

Garciaparra started at shortstop and was the only Red Sox batter with multiple hits with two, driving in all but one of Boston's runs. David Cone went six innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks. The Red Sox have won the last 11 games he has started.

After falling behind 2-1, Boston tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth, as Garciaparra crushed his first home run of the season, a lead-off shot to center, in just his third at-bat.  The ovation was a deafening roar that did not subside until he thanked the crowd with a curtain call.

Garciaparra also knocked in another game-tying run as well as the game-winner with his two-out, bases loaded single in the 7th inning.
